Just call me Harry Head Banger

After work on wednesday, we both came home and took naps. I got up a few hours later and was bored out of my mind. So what do I do? Spontaneously (hence the blog title) talk Matt into remodeling the bathroom. Woot!!!! We are officially laboring during out labor day weekend. These pics are from the first night. We have the floor done, sans the tile of course, the tub is in and the vanity is in place. Plumbing and electrical is all done too of course. We will get the tub enclosed and the tile laid tonight. YAY!!!! Goodbye green bathtub!!!!

Congrats Heather!!!

My gorgeous cousin Heather is getting married in September. We had a bridal shower for her this past Saturday. It was so fun to see her just beaming and glowing with happiness. I am so happy for you Heather and Riley!!!!!!!

Opening presents from sisters... lol

Reading words of advice for Heather and Riley.

Scary, Scary, Scary!

The other night as we were coming out of a movie we recieved a call from a friend telling us we needed to drive towards Columbia Village, that there was a fire. I knew we had had a really bad wind storm earlier that evening and assumed it knocked power lines down or something. Not even close.... we can see part of Columbia Village less than 2 miles from our house so we drove down Federal Way and pulled off the road where numerous others were were doing the same thing we were.

Not only is this not a very good picture but it was after they got control of the fire. I think there were 12 houses damaged, 3 of which were completly destroyed. Along with that we lost a linguistics professor from BSU and a few animals. Nearly 100 families were evacuated until the following day. The fire had started on the hillside below the neighboorhood but as the wind picked up it just completly overtook the houses above. Once again, just proof that life can change in a heartbeat.

I need opinions...

I want honest opinions. I made these to put in the three picture frames... faith family friends in one.... live laugh love in another. Let me know what you think, suggestions on how they can be better. I want to frame them for some family for a wedding present. Thanks!!!

A few more scrap blogs

Here are a few pages I did with pics from our big camping trip.

First Show...

Of the season... We had Lewis Black here last night. If you aren't familiar with him, he is a very political comedian... that swears a lot. :) He was very pleasant backstage and even signed autographs for about an hour after the show. But when he gets going on a topic he feels passionate about..... watch out! Our sound guys had to be on their toes. All in all aside from the potty mouth, he was very enjoyable. A good way to kick off the season!!

Western Idaho Fair

During our one day off last week at the fair we took some time to actually enjoy the fair. We really weren't up for riding any rides except for the ferris wheel, although I do love them, just not their prices. We walked around and saw the all the animals, the photography, dodged those pesky chinese wanting to give you massages and partook of some fair food. It was a relaxing evening spent with Rick and Michelle. The rest of the week was full of concerts we helped put on. We had Gary Allen, Chicago, Corbin Bleu, and the Temptations. Not a bad line up, but LOTS of work. Its actually a nice change from always working indoor venues!!
Matt and I on the ferris wheel... the flash totally hit my face... ick

We ran into our friend Dan... but he wasn't being very friendly...

Dinner, pirates and Olympics with the Allers

Dan with Kandyce and Piper... he was Pipers original owner so they still have a special bond. Its pretty cute!

Silly Faces with Kandyce

The other night.. Sunday I think.... we went over to Dan and Jana's house for dinner. After filling ourselves with awesome lasagna, salad and bread we played an awesome Pirates of the Caribbean DVD game. It was very entertaining. Rick and his son Tony ended up winning in the end and won this rockin skull and crossbones carry on bag. We then enjoyed some yummy sundaes and watched Phelps win his 8th Olympic gold medal and Dara Torres win two silvers within half an hour. GO U.S.A.!!!! Its so nice just spending time with people we genuinely enjoy being with.

Go U.S.A!!

If this doesn't stir up a little American pride... there is something wrong with you.

The *ALMOST* Final Product

On our way home from the Sawtooths we went through Sun Valley and stopped by the Pavilion. I Don't know what the dressing rooms and lower level rooms downstairs look like but from the outside it looks about 80 percent finished on the outside. All the seats have been put in and the landscaping nearly finished but there is still some stonework left to be done. It looks completly different. The symphony was rehearsing when we stopped by so we were able to listen to the acoustics and what not and see it as a functioning ampitheater. Our rigger friend Brad was there a few weeks ago when the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed and inspected the rigging points and what not and informed them of many changes that needed to be made, much as we did while we were there. So, as I said previously, there are going to be many changes made before next season starts.... :)Here are some pictures we took.

The finished inside during rehearsal.

The entrance.

Going from the back of the building to the front of the building with Piper. I took it just to show the landscaping. I think it looks pretty dang good.

Finally!

Ever since I inherited my grandfathers guns I have been really itching to get out and see how they shoot. Two of them are antique and despite my best efforts I don't for see ever having them in working order enough to safely fire. The handgun however is awesome! It is a 357 Magnum in almost perfect condition. I am going to say right now... I have been taught gun safety since I was big enough to hold a gun. My father and grandfather both had them in the house. We have guns that have been in the family for several generations. I plan on passing that on to my children. It is only right that if they are going to inherit these guns, they know how to properly and safely maintain them... end of story. On to pictures. Our friend Rick brought up a little .22 handgun and we had a blast!!!! We taught Ricks son and a few others how to shoot.

Adventures in camping...

... with your co-workers. It actually wasn't horrible. We didn't get our favorite spot but we made it work, and everyone was able to find us without much of a problem. The theme song.... yes, we had a theme song.... was Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Spamalot. And boy, did we sing it a lot more than I am willing to admit!!!

This is how we spent a good deal of our time. We perfected lake fishing and basically lived on the docks at Alturus Lake for 3 days before we attacked the Salmon River. In total, we caught 34 fish and ate about 28 of them.

Mmm.... One of the recipes we tried for Dutch oven trout.

Then our camp got raided and somebody stole our Pirate flag..... there were so many people in our party not one of us heard anything unusual. If we heard anything we probably thought it was one of us getting up to go to the bathroom. Why just the pirate flag.

Our fearless leader chopping wood. I bet you don't know how many inebriated stage hands it takes to get this stump chopped. Answer? Two, and about ten others surrounding them laughing and takeing pictures at their expense. HAHAHA

Matt, Jenn and I at the top of Galena Summit.

We also stopped at the fish hatchery in Stanley. Last year they had a total of three sockeye salmon return... this year they have over 100. It was awesome. We watched the salmon jump up their fish traps for a while. Its a very neat contraption. We also took a nice drive up to the middle of nowhere and ran into some old creepy abandoned cabins. I will add those pictures later.

We are going M.I.A.

So you won't hear from us for a while. We are going on the long awaited camping trip with all the buddies from work. I am excited about camping, just not necessarily with some of these people. I love them all dearly, just not up in the mountains. They aren't really what you would call campers... they are cabiners... for lack of a better word. I am interested in how well this turns out seeing as how last time we were all together we were starting to rip out each others throats. Who knows, maybe gettin down and dirty with mother nature is exactly what we all need. Needless to say, if you don't hear from us within a week or so, its because I got in big trouble.... probably involving febreeze, a dog the size of a horse, clorox wipes, oreos, a snotty nose and a shower. I will let you take it from there.

Loves too all!!!!

... I think I broke my record....

I went to the release party for Breaking Dawn, read the first book before I went to sleep and finished it the next day around 5pm... all in all, 754 pages in 6-7 hours. My husband thinks I am insane.... I love it aside from the fact that I have nothing to read now :(
